My paintings evoke the melancholy sweetness of the blues and the sharp joy of jazz, paying homage to the particular skill Americans have for finding joy. My images are created with a sense of nostalgia and appreciation for the families and communities built, the land farmed, the music played. Using acrylics on canvas placing an emphasis on color and movement. My art is designed to make you smile. I was born in New Jersey, to parents who moved North from Georgia during the Great Migration of black Americans. I received a degree in Fine Art from Kutztown University.
