The Israel Missionary Baptist Church was founded in 1916 by a prayer band that usually met in different homes. When the prayer band decided to officially organize a church on April 27, 1918, Reverend A. B. Fort was chosen as the first pastor. Under the leadership of Reverend William Smith, there have been 60+ ministries, and 74+ deacons ordained. He has pastored over 6,000 members. Israel is now celebrating its 103rd year Anniversary and Reverend Dr. William Smith served as Pastor for 55 of those years, until his Retirement in 2018.
